Energy Design Resources (EDR) respects the privacy of its users.
We realize that concerns about privacy and the secure transfer and
use of personal information have increased with the growth of
online services. That's why EDR maintains strict privacy policies
and uses state-of-the-art technologies to safeguard participant
information.
What kind of information do we collect?
When you visit our Web site there are three kinds of information
that we are likely to record:
1. Non-personal statistical information collected in the
aggregate.
This is anonymous information on subjects such as: how many
visitors come to our Web site, how they navigate thorough the site,
which browsers they use to visit the site, etc.
2. Personal information that you knowingly supply to us.
When you sign up for certain tools or publications on the EDR Web
site, we will collect personal information that will help us to
identify you, authenticate you, and provide you better service in
the future. This information is called "personally identifiable
information" and is used to associate usage information with a
specific individual or entity. Examples of personally identifiable
information are: customer name, e-mail address, etc.
It is a common business practice to collect "personally
identifiable information" in order to conduct business and provide
participants with specific services. The emergence and popularity
of the Internet provides EDR with an effective way to communicate
with participants and meet their needs.
3. Your e-mail address when you download software tools.
We use this information for the following purposes:
- Since the EDR program is funded under the auspices of the
California Public Utilities Commission, we are obligated to
quantify and report that users are acquiring the software tools we
have developed.
- We occasionally will contact users to solicit feedback that
will enhance the tools.
- We will notify users of updates and fixes.
We do not sell or trade participant
information.
EDR will not sell or trade your personal information to any
third party, absent authorization by you. In fact, because the EDR
program is a statewide collaboration of regulated utilities, the
California Public Utilities Commission forbids us to do so. The
Internet medium will not change this. We only collect your
information in order to provide you with better services.
Receipt of E-mails
E-mail gives EDR a convenient avenue to communicate with its
participants. We hope to periodically tell you about special
events, new publications, and training opportunities. We also may
solicit your feedback and opinion in order to help us improve the
site and make it more useful to you. EDR will not, however, send
you e-mails if you do not wish to receive them. If at any time you
would like to remove yourself from EDR's e-mail list, you can do so
by visiting the Manage
Subscriptions page.
Children
EDR does not seek to collect personal information from children
under 18 years of age. We do not have any content on our site that
would be considered harmful to children and certainly do not
restrict children from visiting our site. We do not monitor the age
of users of the EDR Web Site. However, if you are under the age of
18, you should not submit Personal Information on the EDR Web Site
or any web sites without the consent of your parent or
guardian.
Use of Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer's hard
drive by web page servers. When you visit the Web site, our server

the Web site usage we collect using cookies is not tied to your
Personal Information and is only used in aggregate form.

policy is altered.
