offers
a valuable palette of decision-making tools and resources that help
make it easier to design, build and operate more energy-efficient
buildings in California. For the past fifteen years, our goal has
been to educate architects, engineers, lighting designers, and
developers about the latest techniques and proven new technologies
that are transforming the efficiency of our commercial and
industrial workplaces.
Building on this solid foundation in nonresidential new
construction, we are expanding our focus to address the needs of
home builders, design educators (and their students), and the
owners of existing buildings in need of retrofit.
We provide impartial research and powerful design and analysis
tools -- all at no cost -- to help reduce the time it
will take you to evaluate the energy impacts of your decisions.
We've designed all our tools to be quick and easy to learn, plus we
offer many tutorials and other training materials so you can begin
designing more efficiently today.
Even though California is already recognized as a global leader in
energy-efficient buildings, the state will again be tightening its
energy standards for new construction in 2013 (effective
2014).
We want to help make it as easy as possible for you to transition
to these new regulations. More importantly, we want to help you
exceed these standards to create the most cost
effective, high performance buildings that you possibly can --
buildings that will be less expensive to own and operate, more
healthy and comfortable for their occupants, more valuable and
durable for their owners, and more sustainable for years to
come.
The research and development of Energy Design Resources is funded
by California utility customers and administered by Pacific Gas and
Electric Company, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, San Diego
Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, and Southern
California Gas under the auspices of the California Public
Utilities Commission.
The Energy Design Resources website is developed and operated by
